Melodic Dictation, Compound Meter, Intermediate Examples

These examples exhibit the following characteristics:

  • Four measures long
  • Compound duple, triple, or quadruple meters
  • Dotted whole notes to as short as sixteenth notes
  • Major and minor keys
  • Bass and treble clefs
  • Tempos as indicated

Grab some blank staff paper (get some here - http://jlamusic.com/Learn/staffpaper/staffpaper.html) and create a blank 4-measure line for each of the following examples. The starting note, clef, and time signature is provided for you. Play the audio clip as many times as you wish (the standard number for most tests is four) and check your work by clicking on the answer link. Good luck!
