The Basics of Video Editing
Skill Twenty: The Title Room
The title room is where you create text for credits, titles, and other reasons. You will use this "room" to create small video clips that display text along with pictures and other supporting objects. A title in a movie is like the title of a new section of your scrapbook. You might title the first part of your scrapbook "Chapter One", with "Chapter Two" being the title of the second part, and so on. A title in a movie is much the same except it can involve still text, moving text, images, videos, special effects, and more. Titles are used wherever you need to display text in a movie, such as the credits.
It's easy to find the title room. It's on the top left side of PowerDirector. Left-click the title room icon to enter the title room. (If you don't know which icon is the one for the title room, hover your mouse cursor over an icon for a second and you'll see some "hint" text describing the icon. The "T" icon is the title room icon.) HINT: All of the "rooms" in PowerDirector can be accessed from this top left location: the media room (media library), effects room, PiP objects room, particle room, title room, transition room, audio mixing room, voice-over recording room, chapter room, and subtitle room. (From now on the screenshots will be of PowerDirector 13.)
When you're in the title room you will see many title templates which you can use and redesign to fit your needs just by double-clicking on one of them. You can also download templates. If you don't want to design your own template there are lots of them available for free on CyberLink's website.
