Two-Part Invention in D Minor, J.S. Bach
(arranged for two guitars by Jeff Anvinson)
Johann Sebastion Bach was a prolific composer who wrote some of the greatest music ever known. He composed for a wide variety of instruments, including the lute. Unfortunately he didn't write for the guitar, a relative of the lute. Hoping to create more Baroque music for the guitar, and enamored of Bach's Two-Part Inventions for keyboard, I thought this piece would make a good arrangement for two guitars. The initial impetus for doing this was to create a duet for some of my guitar students.
To help my students play and understand it, I have created some learning aids (found below).
- an annotated edition of sheet music
- several audio files at various tempos, including an up-tempo performance version AND a super-human one.
- a video to serve as a practice-aid
Sincerely
Jeff Anvinson
